Week in Review

5 Feb

In case you missed it…

I owe you a training plan post…
February Challenges
(Almost) Wordless Wednesday
Three Things Thursday

This week’s workout totals:

Spin bike: 60 mins
Burpees: 15
Sit ups:  70
Push ups: 21
Planks: 65 seconds total

Workouts were lacking this week because of me being sick so I’m hoping this week will be better. I’m still coughing a lot and my chest/throat hurts as a result. I’m hoping I can at least go to yoga tomorrow to get me moving again. At least I was able to keep up with #burpeefebruary and #fababfeb.

A big chunk of yesterday was spent with Becca while she made me a TinkerBell skirt for the Princess Half!

Don’t forget you can always keep up with all of my daily hi jinks on Daily Mile, Facebook, and Twitter! Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday everyone! :)

Three Things Thursday

26 Jan

1. Ever since I got my iPhone, I’ve become obsessed with Pinterest. I’ve started pinning recipes I’d like to try. And then, last week, Becca introduced me to Foodgawker and I found even more recipes to try. As a result, this past week I’ve made dinner 3 times (which is funny since I really don’t like cooking ha!) and I thought I’d share with you what I made. Lasagna Soup, Baked Cheesy Chicken Penne, and Mexican Lasagna. All of them were pretty good but I especially loved the Lasagna Soup, I can’t wait to have it again.

2. I just got back not too long ago from spin class. I LOVED the instructor. She was really tough and was even yelling at us at some points but that means I got a really good workout in. Legs and even arms felt like jello when I left, I’ll definitely be feeling it tomorrow. I also can’t wait to take her class again next week.

3. In case you were wondering, I’ll be in Disney in 24 days. I can’t wait! If you are going to be down there for the Disney Princess Half Marathon, let me know. I’d love to meet as many of you as I can. :)

Say it, do it! {A fresh start}

6 Sep

I want to start off by saying thank you to all of you for your sweet comments, messages, etc after this post last week. I’ve met so many wonderful people through blogging and running and I don’t know what I’d do without all of you! I just wished everyone lived closer. At least I know I’ll be seeing many of you at races over the upcoming months.

Its time for a fresh start and to start really focusing on me and part of that is getting back into my running and completing the Chicago’s Perfect Ten 10K in 10 weeks. (I don’t think I said “10″ enough). My plan is to follow the Couch to 10K app to get myself ready. So here is what I want to do this week:

  • Run #4.1: 5 minute warm up, then run 2 minutes and walk 3 minutes eleven times.
  • Run #4.2: 5 minute warm up, then run 2 minutes and walk 3 minutes nine times.
  • Run #4.3: 5 minute warm up, then run 2 minutes and walk 3 minutes ten times.
  • One spin class (possibly tomorrow morning)
Something else I want to start doing again is becoming better about watching what I eat. That includes tracking it all on Spark People. I was really good about this for a while but then I just got lazy. I have the app so there is no real reason why I can’t keep this up. This will include limiting myself to one can of pop/day. I would give it up completely but at the moment I need the caffeine and I don’t drink coffee.

Here goes nothing…………………….A FRESH START!

My Spin Challenge Results

31 Aug

Wow! My first post in a couple weeks. Sorry I’ve been MIA ya’ll but I plan to explain tomorrow and fill you all in on the goings on of my life. Anyways now to the task at hand…….

As you know or maybe you don’t, Jess at Run with Jess hosted a Spin Challenge for the month of August. I immediately signed up and it was my hope to make it to the Spinstar level aka at least 6 classes during the month. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to 6 classes but I did get in 3! Once school started, I was finding it very difficult to find a class that fit into my schedule. I work some weird and crazy hours and I guess I really didn’t take that into consideration when I made this goal. My gym offers plenty of different times to go and take the class but a vast majority of them occur when I’m at work or school. As much as it would help sometimes, I can’t be two places at once. LOL None the less, I still made it to 3 and I’m pretty happy with that. Here is how the classes went (according to my daily mile entries):

LA Fitness Spin Class 15 mi 01:00

I wasn’t very impressed by this instructor. She showed up late and sang along to every song. Which wouldn’t be so bad if she could actually sing. Don’t think I’ll be going on Friday evenings anymore. All in all I still managed to get in a good workout.

LA Fitness Spin Class 15 mi 01:00

Another great class. Hilarious man in the class had us all laughing the whole time and really helped the class go by quickly

Full circles, full circles!” aka Spin Class 15 mi 01:00

I went to spin class at LA Fitness with Rebecca J. It was a good class overall and really got my sweat on.

Spinning is one of my favorite workouts so I was really happy to try and get in as many classes as I could. Maybe once I get my routine down, I can try to hit the 6 class mark in one month again. Thanks to Jess for hosting this! I hope you decide to do it again sometime. :)

Three Things Thursday with a giveaway!

1 Jul

1. I just got back from another fabulous spin class. I think I’m obsessed. It is such an awesome and fun workout. Today I went with my friend, Mandy, at her gym. At my gym, the room where class is held is always really cold but at her gym it is HOT. I was sure to wear a sleeveless shirt and shorts but was still dripping sweat 5 minutes in. I should have taken a picture to show you all. Oh well…..

2. I’m totally ready for the holiday weekend. It means tons of time by the pool with a drink in my hand and having fun spending time with family and friends. But I will also be making time to get some work outs in. On Monday, Lauren from Lauren Runs will be meeting up with me on those paths I told you about yesterday for a 75 minute + bike ride! I’m really looking forward to it. I’m sure you’ll get to hear all about it next week. :)

3. I got a great response to yesterday’s post about where/when you ride and run. Thank you so much to all of you that shared. Its fun to hear about other’s routes. Erica at Life as a Running Mom even wrote a whole post in response HERE. I think she brings up a couple of good points with her running rules. The most important thing to remember no matter where you run or ride is SAFETY. That being said, today I’m helping you to be safe out on the road. I’m giving away a $15 gift card to Road ID to use on any of their ids or visibility gear. Here is how to enter:

  • Become a follower. Leave a comment.
  • While its not required, make a donation of $5 or more to my fundraising HERE and you’ll get 5 entries. Plus that will get you entries into my raffle that is still going on! (If you have already donated, you get 5 entries too!) Leave a comment letting me know you donated.
  • Share this giveway on your blog, twitter, or facebook. Leave a comment for each.

That’s it! You can enter until July 7th and I’ll announce the winner on July 8th along with that week’s raffle winner! Good luck!
