Chicago Women’s Half Marathon Training Week #5

24 Apr

Alright ya’ll I promise I’ve been keeping up with my training, I’ve just been really bad about updating the blog and daily mile. Most of my blog posts lately have been from my phone and I really don’t like the DailyMile app.

Anyways, this week is the first of many race weeks this summer. This week is Illinois Marathon weekend. I’ll be doing the Mini I-Challenge which is a 5K Friday night and a 10K Saturday morning. Becca was suppose to be doing it too but unfortunately she hurt her back. :( But I do have my cousin for the 5K Friday night at least!

Here is what this week looks like and its packed:

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 2 miles
Wednesday: 2 miles
Thursday: 3 Miles
Friday: 5K
Saturday: 10K
Sunday: ACS Walk n Roll (15 mile bike ride)

This year’s medals

Who will be down in Champaign racing this weekend? Keep an eye out for me, I’m #15616 for the 5K and #22188 for the 10K.

New Workout Friday

13 Apr

I find all sorts of stuff thanks to Pinterest and I thought I’d start sharing some of the workouts I find that I want to try so you can try them too!

The first one I want to share comes from Tone It Up! I want to try this out because I’ve been doing Kick Ass April and Fab Ab Challenge but my arms are aren’t getting as much of a workout as I’d like.

And just some videos to show you how to do Tummy Tucks and Dips in case you weren’t quite sure. I know I wasn’t!

What do you think? Will you be giving it a try?

Busy Saturday and a WINNER

1 Apr

Hello all! I know I said I would post the winner of the 13.1 Chicago entry yesterday but I honestly I forgot. I had a busy but super fun Saturday. I worked in the morning as usual but then that night I went to see my all time favorite band, Needtobreathe! :) If you’ve never heard them before, you should definitely check them out! They are AMAZING and put on an awesome show.

Now onto the winner……random.org selected comment #26 which is runkiwirun! Please email me at wannaberunnergirl@gmail.com within the next 48 hours to claim your prize! Thanks everyone for entering.

Five Things Friday

30 Mar

1. I just discovered a great (new to me) blog thanks to Katie and its called Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. They have tons of great challenges and giveaways to help motivate YOU. For the month of April, they are having Kick-Ass April which is a great way to get that rockin’ ass and legs. ;) I’m giving it a try, how about you?

2. This Sunday is also the start of the Jelly Bean Virtual Race hosted by Run with Jess. I participated last year and I’m joining in once again. You have from April 1st to the 8th to participate and there are several distances to choose from. Plus if you join in, you’ll be in the running for some awesome prizes. Head over to Run with Jess now to sign up!

3. This Tuesday, Athleta is hosting a shopping event at their brand new Chicago store and it’s all to benefit Girls on the Run. I plan to attend and check it out! Click on the image to enlarge it and find out how you can join in too.

4. Remember how I got to run with and meet the awesome Jeff Galloway?! Well if you live in the Chicago area, you can meet him too! He’ll be at Fleet Feet Sports Chicago- Old Town for a free Meet and Greet on April 15th from 3-5p. How cool is that? If you’re interested, he’ll also be hosting a running school from 12-3p for $99. To register, contact Carol.

5. Today is the last day to enter to win an entry into the 13.1 Chicago Marathon. Go HERE to enter and I’ll announce the lucky winner tomorrow. Good luck!
